Dally shows a more gentle side after Johnny's death. Although he was often called cold-hearted throughout his life, he saved Ponyboy from the fire and Johnny from the church. Conclusionĭallas Winston is much more capable of good feelings and strong actions. This proves that you cannot know someone until they either show you who they are or what you want to see of them. He was the person he wanted everyone to see. He made them believe he was going after someone, but he wasn't. Dally robbed a shop and was purposely shot by police. Dally was devastated, and believed he no longer had a reason to live. He then said, "I wonder." Dally is more tough than me. His face became red and he slammed against the wall. He whirled suddenly and crashed against the wall. Dally didn't take Johnny's injuries well when he died. Dally loved Johnny like a brother, and probably the only person he loved. Dally once said that "my old man don’t care whether I’m in jail, dead in a car accident or drunk in the gutter." He was dependent on his friends since his parents didn’t much care about him. But he relies more on his friends inside. Hidden sides of people could be quite different from what they present to the world.ĭally is not as tough as he appears on the outside. Hinton attempted to show that there are people out there who look different than what they appear to be and how they present themselves to the world through Dallas.ĭally was more than just cruel, rude, and violent. His daily behavior is quite different and he has a few unique facts about him. He is loyal to his friends and has a soft spot in his heart for them. His relationship with his friends is one thing that has made a difference in his life. Since he was a kid, his past and difficult life has not been much better. Dally is independent and street-smart, and can manage himself. Dally isn't someone you want to mess around with. Dally had a rough and unpredictable face. His personality and looks are both described using animal metaphors. Ponyboy, the protagonist of the story, says that Dally's eyes are blue and blazing with ice. Dally is not only tougher than nails but also feared and filled with hatred for all those who have wronged him. However, he had a difficult past that made him who he is today. Dallas Winston is the strongest Greaser and the most tough.
